On Sunday, February 1, 2026, the 68th annual Grammy Award show, hosted in the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, was broadcast throughout America. 

Named after the vintage record player known as the gramophone, this night of celebration was founded to honor and recognize exceptional achievements in the music industry. The Grammys are nominated and awarded by the Recording Academy through a process in which peers within the industry vote on who they believe best exemplifies the category. This ensures that the awards are given based on technical and artistic standards rather than popularity. 

This year, the Grammys were hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, who kept the audience engaged by providing entertaining commentary throughout the evening. This is his sixth consecutive year hosting these awards, but he has officially announced that this year will be his final year hosting. 

Noah’s comedy was not the only form of entertainment for attendees; many talented artists put on live music performances. Some of the most notable performers include Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and a medley featuring all the artists nominated for Best New Artist, including the winner, Olivia Dean. 

Other significant category winners include Bad Bunny’s “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” for Album of the Year, Kendrick Lamar’s “luther” for Record of the Year, and Billie Eilish’s “Wildflower” for Song of the Year. 

Additionally, “E! News” notes that there were many records broken during this year’s award show. Kendrick Lamar became the most Grammy-awarded rapper in history with 27 total wins, surpassing Jay-Z’s 25. He also became the first male solo artist to win Record of the Year in consecutive award seasons. Furthermore, Bad Bunny’s “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” was the first Spanish-language album to win Album of the Year. 

Even though there were many successes, fans still believe that many artists were snubbed from a victory. One of the most controversial losses was Sabrina Carpenter going home empty-handed despite being nominated for six different awards. Others believed that artists such as Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Rosé & Bruno Mars deserved a win in their respective categories, but all left with no trophies.
