Wildcat of the week: Trace Harre
De Soto High School offers a wide variety of clubs and activities to get involved in. Thespians and Voce are both led by senior Trace Harre. Harre has also been a participant in multiple theater productions at DHS.
As president of Thespians, Harre has many responsibilities, such as leading meetings, inducting new members, planning events and informing all members of the program’s information.
Because of the large amount of activities at DHS, many students may not be aware of all of the opportunities offered by the Thespians.
“Thespians is a really fun program for theater kids that they can join. We can go to a place called Thespian Conference and that has all the thespians [from different schools] get together. We can watch a bunch of shows,” Harre said.
Voce, the DHS elite choir group, is also headed by Harre and requires many similar responsibilities.
Additionally, Harre has been a longtime member of Allegro con Spirito, a singing ensemble for young men based in Kansas City. The group requires a large dedication, yet it has many benefits, according to Harre.
“Rehearsal is every Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 at night. It’s really fun. We’re just a tight group of guys that love to sing,” explained Harre.
The group has an upcoming concert on Dec. 9, at the Plaza in Kansas City.
Other DHS students such as junior Connor Cravens and sophomore Bryson Kendall are also in Allegro. These students, along with Harre, have a created a strong bond with each other that also extends to DHS activities. This bond contributes to Harre’s love for DHS theatre.
“I love how it [theater] connects everyone. It’s where my group of friends are. Everyone just loves what they do and it is a fun place to watch others perform and see how much everyone has improved,” Harre said.
Harre has taken part in many shows at DHS such as Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, Cinderella, And Then There were None, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Guys and Dolls.
Harre also plans to audition for the upcoming DHS spring musical.
Heading Voce and Thespians, Harre has high hopes for the future of the programs.
