DHS Cross Country runs Wyandotte
The De Soto Cross Country teams competed in a meet at Wyandotte County Park Saturday Sep. 17. Three of the De Soto High School boys got new personal records, including sophomores Sam Hubert and Graham Hudelson and freshman Chase Culver.
The top finisher for DHS varsity boys was Hubert, who placed 13th with a time of 17:15.39. Junior Kason Jackson got the school’s second best time, finishing in 23rd place with a time of 17:36.34. Junior Andre Vanmeerhaeghe placed 51st with a time of 18:21.77 to round out DHS’ top three.
“It was a great meet for the team, and we did better than we expected. A lot of us set some personal records too,” Jackson said.
DHS sent five varsity boys runners to the meet, with Hudelson placing 76th and Culver placing 80th. The team placed ninth in boy’s varsity out of 18 teams.
“It was a really fun meet, I’m happy with how we did overall. I’m just looking forward to the next one at Rimrock now,” Jackson said.
DHS had seven girls in the varsity race, and they placed 11th out of 17 teams overall. Junior Gabby Collins placed 16th and medaled with a time of 20:44.65, followed by freshmen Lamyah Ricks and Erin Pickert at 39th and 62nd, respectively.
The race winner for boys varsity was Tyler Musgrave from Raymore Peculiar in Missouri with a time of 16:32.48.
