Junior McKenna Webber has been playing soccer for 10 years and has always enjoyed the sport.

Webber recently participated in the boys’ soccer boot camp and was the only girl that joined in on the experience. This is the second year that the boot camp has been held.

“I participated because the girls soccer team was also invited along with all the guys’ team, but a lot of girls had conflicts,” Webber said.

According to Webber, there were many challenges during the camp, but in the end all of their hard work was worth it.

“Boot camp helped me to improve as a player because it really pushed me to not quit even when it got really hard,” Webber said.

Her most accomplished moment throughout the 12-hour long day spent outside was when she beat some of the boys in a competition.

“My least favorite part of boot camp was how physically exhausting it was,” Webber said. “But my favorite part of camp was beating all but five of the guys in a planking contest.”

Webber wished that other girls from the team could have joined, but was still excited she could participate.

“It united the team together by doing something challenging for everybody involved. I wished there could’ve been more girls there, but it was really cool being there because I think it helped push the guys and myself,” Webber said.

Webber was happy with the outcome and is looking forward to next year’s camp.

“Boot camp helped me improve as a player because it really pushed me to not quit even when it gets really hard,” Webber said.
