Meet this year’s senior homecoming court!

Senior Kelsey Mills is one of three girls up for homecoming queen this year. Mills has dedicated the past three years to the De Soto High School Diamonds dance team and is in her second year as team captain.

“[The dance team] is probably my most memorable thing throughout high school,” Mills said. “The team is awesome. I love all the girls … it’s my favorite thing about school.”

Mills is undecided on where she will attend school next fall, but plans to study liberal arts and hopes to continue dancing.

Mills will be escorted by homecoming king candidate senior Rex Templin. Templin is involved in football, the musical, and newspaper.

“I love getting to interact with different people in different friend groups, and my activities let me talk to a lot of people,” Templin said.

Templin hopes to attend the United States Air Force academy to study operations research.

Senior Jaycie Thaemert is another queen candidate. Thaemert is involved in many teams and clubs throughout DHS, but one of her favorites has been the band. Thaemert is a drum major for a second year this year.

“I really like music and I’m going to continue doing that in college,” Thaemert said.

Thaemert is applying at multiple schools but says she will most likely end up at either the University of Oklahoma or Vanderbilt University. Thaemert plans to join the marching band at the college she chooses to continue in her love for music.

Thaemert will be escorted by Reid Kelly. Kelly has enjoyed his time on the DHS football team and getting to work with Coach Brian King in the weight room.

“[Football] has obviously been very fun this year. That’s probably my favorite thing about school right now,” Kelly said.

Kelly plans to attend the University of Kansas next fall to study audiology.

The final candidate for homecoming queen is senior Allison Eaton. Eaton is apart of several clubs at DHS, but her favorite is Student Council.

“I really like how we’re involved in everything. The pep assemblies are pretty fun, and dances are fun [to plan],” Eaton said.

Eaton also plans to attend KU to pursue a career as a developmental pediatrician.

Eaton’s escort is king candidate senior Isaac Albert. Albert is involved in both soccer and basketball at DHS and has a passion for both sports.

“We have an amazing [soccer] team this year … it’s a bunch of fun to be around those guys and be apart of that team,” Albert said.

Albert wants to major in psychology, but is undetermined on what school yet. He also hopes to play basketball at the collegiate level.
