Boys’ basketball beats Blue Valley SW
The De Soto High School boys’ varsity basketball team won its home game against Blue Valley Southwest 58-51 on Dec. 8.
The game was part of the Huhtamaki Tournament that took place Dec. 4-8. Because of the win, they did not have to play on Dec. 7 and went straight into finals on Dec. 9.
The score between the teams was very close the first three quarters of the game but began to widen the last quarter.
“I thought that we played really well. They [the team] played some really smart basketball at the end of the game,” head coach Matt Rice said. “We overcame some adversity with foul trouble, so I was really pleased.”
Senior Levi Hanson agreed with Rice that the team performed well and is excited to play the play the remainder of the tournament.
“We are looking forward to the chance to win our first Huhtamaki tournament championship,” Hanson said. “We hope that a lot of people will come and support.”
