Dear fellow Green Pride Staff,

Let me start off this letter by saying you guys are awesome. Sometimes, being in newspaper sucks. You have to ask the hard question, interview people you never speak to and hope that people do not start a fight over your story. It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it. Although they may not show it very often, the school wouldn’t be as well off as it is now without you guys. By constantly keeping the school informed on the latest news, whether it’s a new scandal or important debate over pineapple as a pizza topping, you help give students a chance to interact and learn about different people and parts of the community. The amount of passion held in room ??? during W4 never ceases to amaze me. You all fight for what you believe in, despite what others may think. So give yourself a pat on the back and know that you’re doing a good job.

When I joined newspaper, I had no idea what I was getting into. Sullivan approached me during my photo imaging class that I had with him and suggested I take it. At the time I thought I would get to spend most of my class continuing to take photos and find new ways to use Photoshop in ways it was not originally intended. Instead, I was thrown into a cycle of chaos and confusion. Writing stories for the paper had never really been my thing, so when my only assignments were writing based, I felt as if I wasn’t using my full potential and that my work was lacking. I was never given the opportunity to showcase these skills until my second year of newspaper when I was asked to start making graphics. Finally, I knew that I could show the rest of the staff the knowledge and knack for design I possessed.

My very first graphic was a timeline. Nothing fancy, and now that I look back on it, it was quite unimpressive. But I was so excited to show off something I was proud of. From there, I continued to broaden my knowledge on design and formatting, each graphic improving in quality.

The moral of this story is me thanking you guys and newspaper for everything you’ve done for me. The past three years have been full of so many laughs and memories I’ll never forget. I’d like to wrap this up with some of my favorite moments from this year. I can’t remember how it happened, but Rat Boi, keep being rat like. Always keep a list of Sydney’s multiple triggers as a constant warning to outsiders. Never forget the American Bible Challenge or how every year, despite our best efforts, someone screws up the present exchange before winter break. Lizzy and Ellie, doing the Worth It series with you guys was by far one of the best stories I’ve ever been a part of. Paden, the iconic meme folder is everything I strive to be in life, never stop growing your collection. I’m not sure what the newspaper will do without the lead in guru, aka, Emma Bascom. As a collective note, please don’t change Jack’s profile picture, the dog must live on. Rylee, Micah and Reaghan, I’m trusting you to keep the atmosphere in newspaper lighthearted and fun, in addition to The Meme Pride. And if you ever have another worknight, make sure to order an absurd amount of McDonald’s.
