DHS netters win big at Bonner Springs Invite
Nine Wildcats pick up individual medals
The De Soto High School varsity girls’ tennis team claimed the team championship after compiling a 19-1 overall individual record at the Bonner Springs Invitational on Sept. 29.
Three of De Soto’s entries went a perfect 5-0 on the day en route to first-place finishes, including freshman Issa Sullivan (No. 1 singles), senior Emily Parr (No. 2 singles) and junior Raegan Ramsdell and sophomore Bailey Ramsdell (No. 2 doubles). The Wildcats earned an additional individual medal with the No. 1 doubles team of senior Emily Euler and junior Kelsey Heer earning silver medals.
DHS also took three more players to the tournament. The trio filled in spots for players missing from Perry-LeCompton High School. All three players earned individual medals, including junior Holly Capling (fourth place, No. 1 singes) and junior Josie Bedford and freshmen Ellie Bream (third-place, No. 2 doubles).
De Soto will close out the regular season next week with a JV dual match at Lawrence on Oct. 3 and a varsity quad at Lansing on Oct. 4. The varsity Wildcats will then head to Pittsburg for Regionals on Saturday, Oct. 8
