Senior Jordan Diehl commits to Johnson County Community College to pursue her academic and athletic softball career.

Recently, senior varsity softball player Jordan Diehl verbally committed to Johnson County Community College to continue her athletic and academic career as a Cavalier in the class of 2022.

“When I got an offer from JCCC, I was super excited because it was my No. 1 target school and I knew I wanted to go because their coaches and players made me feel super welcome,” Diehl said.

For Diehl, softball is not just a sport she plays on the weekends; it is much more.

“Softball has impacted my life by allowing me to meet new friends and people,” Diehl said. “It has also made me work harder for what I want and kept me motivated. Softball has also given me great opportunities and experiences.”

Diehl has played softball since she was 5 years old, whether that be with a club team or throughout her educational career. Because of her vast experience with the sport, she has met many supporters that attributed to Diehl’s college decision.

“My friends and family had a major impact on my decision [to play for JCCC], without them, my commitment would not have been possible,” Diehl said.

Junior teammate Ella Boxx shares that Diehl is a very motivated player and couldn’t be more proud of her commitment.

“She brings positive energy and talent [to the team],” Boxx said. “Being one of our strongest players, her speed always gives us a base runner. She also always shows up when we need her to and gets the job done.”
Along with Diehl’s friends and family’s support, she also gives credit to her coaches that have helped her along with her future at JCCC.

“Coach Woolery has helped me reach out to the coaches at JCCC which led to my scholarship,” Diehl explains. “Coach Wible, Wools and McGinness have pushed me at practice to improve my softball skills and become a better player, and I am very thankful for that.”

Not only has Diehl’s impressive softball skills led her to a JCCC scholarship, but she also received offers from Bethany College, West Virginia Wesleyan, Missouri Valley College and many more.

According to Diehl, the recruitment process was easy because of all of her experience playing for club teams. The club team she is currently on, Kansas Infinity, helped her get recruited because of all of the tournaments she was involved in.

“I was also introduced to an app called Field Level, where colleges can watch your highlight videos and contact you if they are interested,” Diehl explains. “I think that app has been very beneficial to my recruiting process.”

As for this years upcoming softball season, Boxx is sad to see Diehl go, but is glad she gets to play one last year with her.

“Jordan is one of my best friends on the team. Playing high school softball with her has been such a fun experience,” Boxx explained. “We will miss her speed and attitude next year. [The] underclassmen are going to need to step up as leaders when the seniors leave.”
