DHS girls’ soccer beats Blue Valley Northwest
The De Soto High School’s girls’ junior varsity soccer team improved to 4-2 on the year with a 1-0 win against Blue Valley Northwest High School at home on April 16.
Freshman Sophia Stine is proud of how the team competed in the victory.
“I think we did great, and it was a good opportunity for other players to get some good touches on the ball,” Stine said “It was impressive that people that don’t normally get an opportunity got to have their own time to shine. Overall, the game was good. We had a few harsh moments but, we pulled it together.”
Sophomore Hayley Moss scored on a cross with sophomore Corinne Daise. Freshmen Halle Scott and Maddie Meehan played as goalies to secure the shutout with the help of the rest of the Wildcat defense.
Assistant coach Melissa Stone is impressed with how well the team played against BVNW.
“That was the best game our team has played so far this season against the most challenging team we have faced,” Stone said “We showed up from the first minute and were ready to play. It was a true team victory. Each player was a crucial part to winning that game. I was so proud of this JV team.”
