Last Friday De Soto High School took on Fort Scott High School in the quarterfinals game at home and defeated FSHS 49-13.

The Wildcats started off strong with an interception by  senior Exavier Jackson who returned it for a touchdown on the first play.

Senior Bryce Mohl then threw for 180 yards and four touchdowns making an impact on the team.

Senior Trevor Gress thinks that the win came from an all-together team effort.

“It was an all-around team win we just simply played lights out. Our coaches set us up to succeed with a great game plan, Gress said.  
Also last Friday’s game happened to fall on head coach Brian King’s birthday, which according to senior Trevor Watts gave the team an even greater need to succeed.

“We just went out and had to win,” Watts said.

The DHS football team is now advancing to the Substate game at home where the Wildcats will fight to avenge a previous loss against Bishop Meige on Nov. 17.

They plan to prepare for the game the best they can, but senior Brayden Brummer knows they will be ready.

“Our preparation is the most important thing going into this week. Our coaches do a fantastic job spending hours preparing us for each game. We will be ready,” Brummer said.
