Junior Taylor Rogers has recently committed to play soccer at Baker University and is very excited to continue her soccer career at the next level.

“Baker was the first school I visited, and on my visit it just felt like home,” Rogers said. “It had the competitiveness and intensity I was looking for in a team.”

With Baker University only 40 minutes away, Rogers feels like she is in her hometown.

“The girls really reminded me of the De Soto team and the school itself reminds me a lot of De Soto,” Rogers said. “In the sense that it’s built off the community, and everybody has each other’s backs.”

Many students athletes create a recruiting profile for colleges to look up and get to know some of your information, which is what Rogers did.

“I created a recruiting profile through NCSA and received emails from several different schools wanting me to visit,” Rogers said.

Making a decision like where to go to college is not easy, so many athletes include their parents in making the decision like Rogers did.

“My mom played a big role in my decision. She’s always been my best friend and role model,” Rogers said. “She took me on the visit to Baker, and she knew that was the school for me.”

When she goes to Baker, Rogers will continue with the position she plays at DHS: goalkeeper.
