Last night the De Soto High School boys’ swim team competed in its last meet of the regular season. The team took fourth place overall in addition to sophomore Miles Arnold qualifying for State and the 400 free relay team getting consideration time for State.
“We wanted to end the regular season with a final push, work our hardest and do the best we could,” junior Joel King said.
The 400 meter free relay has consideration time, so if there are open spots the relay team gets to compete at State.
“You have consideration time and qualifying time. Consideration time is easier to get, but that’s only if they have extra spots for you to get in,” freshman Jarod Blazo said.
In addition to State qualifications and considerations, the swim team beat Bonner Springs, a much larger swim team, by a significant amount.
“We beat Bonner Springs by almost double points which is really good because they have a lot of swimmers and we don’t,” Blazo said.
This was the last meet of the regular season and was also the League meet.
“League meet is basically like the championships, but everyone can go. So it’s the last chance to make qualifying and consideration times,” Blazo said.
