De Soto High School senior Tessa Scott signed her letter of intent to begin her collegiate rowing career at the University of Kansas on May 2, 2012, in the DHS Media Center.
Scott played tennis for four years, was involved in band, Thespians, Student Council, FCA and National Honor Society.
Scott says she fell in love with the whole program and met the rowers on her official visit. She is both excited and nervous to participate in a sport that she has not officially trained in.
“It is one movement, and they teach it to you and you perfect it for the rest of your time. For me to have never rowed before, it’s kind of scary, to go in and play a Division I sport,” Scott said.
