The end of the semester is a stressful time for everybody. Finals take up the last week of school before break and it is an opportunity for those to save or sink their grade. However, depending on how the semester went for students, some people dont even stress finals.
Sophomore Charlotte Wallen said “I think that finals are a good way to end a good semester and I never find myself feeling stressed out about them”
It can really depend on a student’s test anxiety and grade in a class on how they feel about finals. Finals in classes can range from 10 to 20% of the total grade, so it can have a big effect on grades.
When students have important classes and borderline grades studying is super important for these finals. De Soto offers Cocoa & Cram to help but some still feel stressed.
Sophomore Addison Bradley “I get really stressed out when it comes to studying for eight finals all in one week.”
Many students say that finals should only be a thing at the end of the year rather than semester for all year long classes. Therefore kids wouldn’t have to be so stressed out before the holidays.
Many teachers also make finals easier and lighter for the students because of how hard the rest of the semester was. This could include small projects or presentations rather than a long question test.
In the end there are a lot of different opinions about finals around the school and everyone is different. Finals vary for every class and grade.
