During the 2022-2023 school year here at De Soto High School, we were having some serious Wi-Fi issues in the English hallway downstairs. Students and teachers were all experiencing the Wi-Fi cutting out for five to ten minutes or sometimes even the whole class period.
“It’s affected the time I have during class and [when working on] assignments a lot.” Sophomore Jasen Grammer said.
Most students have undoubtedly experienced the Wi-Fi issues but some have experienced worse problems than others.
“[Sometimes] last year the Wi-Fi wasn’t working for my whole entire class.” Grammer said.
“It did occasionally affect me, but it was random and never really lasted that long, only 5 minutes or so.” Wright said..
Some new students and staff members have also been experiencing these issues.
“My previous school [had] Wi-Fi issues so I guess I was used to it, I wasn’t totally surprised, and I had heard it had been an issue down in this hallway last year.” said Riley..
“I don’t think there has been a time where I changed my plans during class or what I was going to do during my plan period because of it. The only issue was during the first travel day during seminar [on] the first day because minga wouldn’t work.”
Even freshman and even returning upperclassmen have experienced problems.
“During seminar it’s worse than during English class itself.” Said Freshman Adam Fitzgerald.
Most of the time the Wi-Fi works, but it just depends when and how many people are on the Wi-Fi.
“The only time it has been complicated is when everyone is on their computers during seminar trying to change their mingas.” said English Teacher Amanda Sweet.
However, the library downstairs doesn’t seem to have any problems at all.
“I have several Wi-Fi ports, which means my Wi-Fi issues are less because those are just for this location, which means the classrooms right above me can’t access them because the ceiling acts as a barrier. said Librarian Jennifer Sosna.
This 2023-2024 school year though, they finally fixed the Wi-Fi and nobody has had serious issues after. Students and staff all hope that the Wi-Fi will continue to be better, and improve this 2023-2024 school year.
