Are Alani Nu’s healthy for teens?
Numerous teenagers have been drinking a new type of energy drink called Alani Nu. Alani Nu is advertised to be better for your health than the more popular energy drinks.
Alani Nu has 200 mg of caffeine per 12 ounces. There are 15 calories along with zero sugars, no fat, one gram of sugar alcohol and an artificial sugar called sucralose. It also includes vitamins B6, B12 and Biotin.
Biotin is known to help with hair and nail growth. It can also help your body to convert food into energy and is known to help keep your skin, eyes, liver and nervous system healthy.
Since there is no added sugar in the drink, sucralose is added to it, but is known to be more harmful to your body than regular sugar. While sucralose is initially made from sugar, it has zero calories and is 400-700 times sweeter than real sugar.
According to healthline.com, people who consume a lot of sucralose have blood sugar levels increasing by 14 percent and insulin levels by 20 percent. However, when people aren’t consuming it often or in large quantities, then it shouldn’t have that drastic of an effect on your health and body.
For most adults, the highest amount of recommended caffeine daily is up to 400 mg. For teens of ages 13-18, the highest amount of caffeine that they are recommended to have daily is up to 100 mg. If a teen were to drink the Alani Nu energy drink, then they should only drink half the can or less.
If someone were to consume too much caffeine, they could experience insomnia, dehydration, headaches, rapid heartbeat, anxiety and can become dependent on the caffeine.
From personal experience with the energy drink, Alani Nu has a strong flavor that I really enjoyed, but I did get a headache after a couple hours since I drank the whole can. If a teenager were to drink the whole can, then I would recommend drinking plenty of water at the same time.
My recommendation for people who drink Alani Nu for the first time is to only drink a quarter of the can the first time and then slowly increase the amount you drink each time. For your body to go from little caffeine intake to 200 mg is difficult and gives you symptoms of a headache or dehydration.
According to dietspotlight.com, other people who drink more than one Alani Nu a day have problems with their heart, acne, dizziness, jitteriness and nausea so it is recommended to only have one a day.
Overall, Alani Nu is the better option for an energy drink in comparison to Monster or Red Bull as long as you don’t drink too much.

It also contains erythritol, a sugar alcohol.
