Open letter to The Green Pride staff: Abby Smith

Dear Green Pride Staff,

Wow. My three years on staff have flown by. I’ve been imagining what I would say in this letter for all that time, but as I sit down to type this, I’m at a loss for words.

I’ll start with what I’ll miss. I’ll miss our bi-annual newspaper parties一Sullivan’s queso, CapriSuns and reading the quote pumpkin are just a few of the highlights of the best days of the school year. I’ll miss our yearly Secret Santa and guessing who in the circle got us our presents. I’ll miss the satisfaction of coming into class to see the boxes of our latest issue on the counter, ready to be opened.

For you guys, these things may seem insignificant and small. They did to me before this semester. But now, as I go through my last week of high school, I know that those little moments will be greatly missed. My challenge for all of you is to appreciate them now before you are out of time.

This year has brought about many changes to our newspaper. From a new headline font and logo to a brand new podcast, our staff has so much to be proud of. One thing we have focused on collectively this  year is page designs, and I think we have worked super hard to improve them. I didn’t put in a senior will this issue, but I will all of you to keep up the good work because it is really paying off!

Lastly, I want to thank each and every one of you for making The Green Pride so special. Newspaper has been a way for me to get involved with DHS these past three years and I wouldn’t have traded it for the world.

With love,

Abby Smith, Graphic Design Editor (for the last time)
