Tips to help students stay focused for the end of the year
With the end of the school year approaching, students might not put their full focus and effort into the final stretch due to their constantly thinking about summer vacation. This can be a major problem for some.
For me, my mind is always drifting off. At the end of the year, it drifts to day dreaming about summer. I admit, it is hard to stay focused at the end of the year, and we all could use some tips on how to stay focused while school is coming to an end.
The first tip is to be organized, put things where they belong and know where things go. Consistently look at your schedule so you can know when and where your plans are and not stress out about being late or even missing. Being organized is probably the No. 1 tip teachers give their students and can help a lot.
Spend time studying every night, even if it’s just 10 minutes. Those 10 minutes every night really add up and can help understand knowledge about the subjects you are studying. Making flash cards while you’re studying can help you stay focused. It’s always so much easier to flip a card rather than spending time searching through your notes wasting time.
Creating goals will keep you motivated if you really try to achieve them. Making small goals will eventually lead you to achieving something big. Making small goals like getting an A on a test or homework will lead you to work harder and eventually learn the lesson in depth and maybe even ace the final. I know this tip will keep me focused because sometimes students get distracted or bored and want to watch Netflix or be on social media instead of focusing on the schoolwork in front of us.
After creating your goals, it might be a good idea to reward yourself. After studying one night, don’t be afraid to give yourself a break. You could even reward yourself by going out for ice cream after dinner.
With summer break being less than six weeks away, these tips might help you stay motivated to finish the end of the year. Especially with finals taking place the very last week of school, staying focused is very important and much needed to get the grades you want.
