Fellowship of Christian Athletes is one of the many extracurricular activities that De Soto High School students can be a part of.

FCA is held in the Black Box theater every Friday morning.

The meetings include donuts, a time of worship and either a passage shared by a fellow student or an inspirational video.

Sophomore Ashlen Boresow believes FCA meetings are a great place to give and receive encouragement and support.

“It’s important for anyone considering joining to know that you can participate as much or as little as you would like without judgement,” Boresow said.

FCA is seen by sophomore Emma Blom as a great reminder of how to act during the school day.

“To me, FCA is a great extracurricular in which students can come together to worship and pray together,” Blom said.

According to sophomore Kate Hashagen, attending FCA makes it easier to fit fellowship into her busy schedule.

“It [FCA] has brought me closer to God because I don’t get to church and youth group every week due to volleyball,” Hashagen said.

According to Blom, FCA has grown since last year.

“There are a lot more people [in FCA] this year which is awesome,” Blom said.

Blom decided to join FCA because she wanted to be a part of something she believed in.

“It’s cool to see other kids your age a part of this [FCA],” Blom said. “You can spend time with people who are really similar to you and your religious beliefs.”

Boresow assures students that FCA is welcome to everyone.

“The group is open to anyone and everyone who wants to join, even if it’s only one morning throughout the year,” Boresow said. “It doesn’t matter how religious you are because everyone is welcome.”
