JCCC gives out college credit
Recently, Johnson County Community College announced they will be giving college credit for students taking college level math classes in high school all throughout the Johnson County metro area.
Many students at De Soto failed the accuplacer, which is a test you must pass in order to qualify for college credit and was declined for the college credit to start.
Junior Bailey Ramsdell now has the opportunity to take Pre-Calculus as a college course.
“I did not take the accuplacer, because of how hard it sounded, and I didn’t want to waste my time,” Ramsdell said.
Even sophomores who take Pre-Calc in high school are now using it for college credit.
Sophomore Ethan Iddings is excited to continue to earn more college credit in his classes after Pre-Calc. These credits will allow sophomores to build on credits in the next two years.
“I’m excited to further those credit hours so I can save money in college and add on to those credits my junior and senior year,” Iddings said.
Pre-Calc students who are willing to take this class for credit will end up getting five credit hours.
