Marketing Christmas Event

With all the stress that finals week brings, it is hard to get into the Christmas spirit. This year, though, the marketing team has brought the Christmas feel back to De Soto High School for one morning.

Students from the marketing team sold hot chocolate and coffee on Dec. 13, while the DHS Voce choir and a flute group performed carols. Students could come into the library anytime from 7:15 until 9:15 a.m. to hang out and momentarily escape the stress of finals.

Senior Ty Kempf, a marketing student, thinks that people enjoyed the coffee and hot chocolate early in the morning.

“When I saw everyone stopping by the library, I was kind of surprised that so many people would stop by that early in the morning,” Kempf said. “But I was glad to see everyone hanging out and having a good time before their day’s finals.”

The morning festivities were a great learning and performing situation for the students in band and Voce as well.

Junior Johnny Meehan is a tenor involved in DHS Voce, and he believes that caroling was a chance to get more exposure to performing, while also giving students a chance to lay back and relax.

“We had to learn the songs in a short period of time, but, overall, I thought that it was very cool getting to perform and carol in front of all the students,” Meehan said. “It definitely helped students relax more, and I think this would be a great idea for future years.”

All of the students who showed up got time to relax, drink hot chocolate or coffee, hang out with friends and listen to music while studying in a peaceful environment, all while supporting DHS and the marketing team: a win-win situation.
