This year the De Soto Madrigal choir is doing something new. They plan on putting on a benefit concert that centers around Disney music.
Plans have been made to have a show centered around an evening gathering involving many characters from Disney movies. They will be interacting and sharing experiences using music from their story.
Mary Etta Copeland, the Madrigal choir director, is excited about the concert.
“I am thrilled with the idea,” Copeland said “I am impressed with what I have seen leadership wise.”
The concert was thought up by the Madrigal’s community service committee. The committee began as a small group, but Copeland said that “there is a huge group wanting to be involved in the planning. That is significant.”
The profits made from the concert will be donated to the Make A Wish Foundation, which grants the wishes of children who have been diagnosed with life threatening conditions.
“I am in total agreement of the direction of raising money for somebody else, with providing entertainment that our younger students in our district will want to enjoy,” Copeland said.
Madrigals plan to promote the concert around the district, as well as in the community. The hope is to draw as many people out as possible in order to raise a generous donation to Make A Wish.
The concert is set for April 12, in the De Soto High school auditorium. The class hopes that it will be a fun, new experience for all audiences, and as Copeland said, “who doesn’t love Disney?”
