Advanced Placement courses will begin testing in May. De Soto High School offers AP courses for Chemistry, Psychology, Calculus, Literature, Language, Statistics, Studio Art, Biology, Music Theory, Physics, Government and US History.
Students will earn a score based off of a 5-point scale: 5 being extremely well qualified to receive college credit and 1 being no recommendation for credit. Once all participating schools return their AP Exam materials to the AP program, the multiple choice and free-responses are scored and totaled to find a composite score. Composite scores are then turned to AP scores by the equated boundaries. Equating is accomplished by looking at how well AP students tested on the multiple choice versus the past year.
Although the Exam dates aren’t until May, students at DHS have already begun to prepare.
