Big goals for girls’ soccer
As spring sports recently kicked off, the De Soto High School girls’ soccer team has been able to start their season with two wins and end in a tie against Spring Hill High School.
Starting off with zero losses, the girls’ soccer team has been able to grow and bond through the beginning of the season during Boot Camp, practices and team dinners.
Junior Avery Crabtree notes how much she enjoys the team atmosphere and how well the season has started off.
“I really just love how the team feels like a family,” Crabtree said.
Sophomore Kennedy Tilley strongly believes in the significance of the team’s chemistry.
“The soccer team is like having another family and sharing common interests allows for us to all become closer together. We also challenge each other not only on the field but in our day-to-day lives,” Tilley said. “Our connections go beyond the field and it’s great to be on the team.”
Not only has team bonding been a success for the Wildcats, but the team has been able to utilize the new equipment and resources at DHS.
Over the course of the summer, De Soto’s sports complexes were revamped. These new amenities include baseball, softball and soccer. A new turf field/stadium for the girls soccer team has been another addition to the soccer program.
“The field is amazing. It’s nice to have the new facility and gives us a boost of energy to be out there,” Tilley said.
Team members have big aspirations for the remainder of the season.
“I’m hoping to do well as a player and do well in the playoffs. I really hope we [the team] make State too,” Crabtree said.
Both Crabtree and Tilley hold high hopes for the remainder of the soccer season.
