Roman Adams commits to play college soccer
While seniors at De Soto High School continue to think about furthering their academic and/or sports career, Roman Adams has decided how he wants to further his sports and academic future after leaving DHS.
During the summer, Adams signed a letter of intent on July 12, to play either rugby or soccer at Iowa Central Community College.
As of Oct. 16, Adams has now fully committed to Iowa Central Community College to continue his soccer and academic career. He signed to play as a left-back and plans to major in radiology technology.
“They [Iowa Central] had the most interest in me for soccer and also has the major I want which is radiology technology,” Adams said.
Adams knew he wanted to go into some type of medical field and decided that Iowa Central was the right fit for him. Adams said that the radiology program hooked him.
“I chose radiology because I wanted to go into the medical field and that’s what stood out to me the most,” Adams said.
Not only is Adams excited to major in radiology technology, but also continue his soccer career.
“I didn’t want my soccer career to end in high school and I always wanted to play at the collegiate level,” Adams said.
On Adams’ journey of wanting to play at the collegiate level, his friends have also been supportive.
One of Adams’ close friends who is also a senior at DHS, Alec Chesser, is excited to see how Adam’s future unfolds.
“I’ve known Roman for about six years and am not a bit surprised that he signed,” Chesser said. “He’s like a brother to me and I’ve never been more proud of him. I really think he’s going places and hope his college career goes well.”
Now since Adams has officially signed, he has high hopes and is excited for a new perspective on the soccer field.
“I’m really excited for the experience of being on the field as a player and not a spectator,” Adams said. “I’m really looking forward to the college experience and being able to play at the collegiate level.”
With unwavering support and Adams’ determination, he is fulfilling his dreams of playing collegiate soccer.
