It is that time of year where everyone walks around the halls with the dreadful look of stress and worry across their faces.

As the end of the year rapidly approaches, I feel that teachers cram half of a school year into fourth quarter.

From quizzes, tests, projects and presentations, there is simply not enough hours in one day to get everything done.

On top of regular class work, let’s just take a minute to talk about State Assessments.

No one likes them. They take up two whole class periods to complete, as well as take away precious time to get the mountain of work done that was already assigned for the class.

On top of playing “catch up”, teachers think it’s a great idea to teach two units with 27 days left of the school year, adding more homework, more quizzes and more tests all before finals.

These genius ideas only give you one day to review course work from the whole year before taking your final.

As if finals weren’t stressful enough, they just keep adding more and more and more work.

The only thing keeping me going now is the light at the end of the tunnel known as summer vacation.

Sunny and 75, laying by the pool and reading a good book is all I can think about when I’m handed another project rubric.
