Wildcat of the week: Greg Bilek
Greg Bilek is this week’s Wildcat of the week at De Soto High School. He is a senior at DHS who partakes in many activities.
Bilek has run cross country since he was in seventh grade, he has also participated in Scholars Bowl, tennis and Student Council since sophomore year.
“I chose these activities because I noticed that my friends were doing those sports and extracurriculars as well as I wanted to meet new people, and I have met some amazing people,” Bilek said.
Bilek also has participated in the school fundraiser, Mr. Wildcat. He performed as a sophomore, junior, and again as a senior. Sophomore year he did not place, junior year he was close to winning, but got got Mr. Congeniality, and finally his senior year he won.
“It feels amazing to have won after competing for three years and having great times with great friends, so I’m sad that it’s finally over but winning was never important to me in Mr. Wildcat, I really just loved having fun with friends and putting on a show, as wells as doing it for a cause,” Bilek said.
Outside of school and during his freetime, Bilek enjoys hanging out with friends.
“I love going to Panda Express with my friends in my free time,” Bilek said. “And when I’m not with them or at school, I’m usually working at Chili’s.”
When Bilek graduates he will be attending Kansas State University. Here he plans on majoring in architecture.
“I chose KSU because I wanted to get away but stay in state, plus KSU has one of the best architecture schools in the nation so it will help me a lot in my future career,” Bilek said.
