Being a model may seem like a goal that is out of reach for many high school students, but senior Raegen Ramsdell has been involved in the modeling industry since 2013.

Twice a year, Ramsdell models in shows for Kansas City Fashion week. Ramsdell modeled for KCFW’s Chief’s Style Lounge show at Union Station on Oct. 10. Ramsdell enjoys the hype of fashion shows and how all of the day-long preparation pays off when she gets to show her look to the audience.  

“At Kansas City Fashion Week, you get a designer. There are four to five  designers each night, and you get ready all day to walk for them,” Ramsdell said. “Then do your walk, two minutes and then it’s all over.”  

On the runway, she modeled for Kansas City designer Natasha Shangari,a young emerging local designer with her own brand “SHANGARI.”

Ramsdell has found a great liking to participating in shows, her favorite part being the new people she’s been able to get to know.

“It’s fun getting ready and meeting all the girls, because there is such a variety of people there; it’s really cool meeting them all,” Ramsdell said.

Other than KCFW, Ramsdell does other modeling events around Kansas City through her agency,  I & I.

“I do local magazines and my next shoot is going to be a photo shoot for the Nelson-Atkins Museum as well as some other local shows,” Ramsdell said.

When she’s not walking down the runway or posing behind a camera, Ramsdell is involved in multiple activities at De Soto high school. She participates in varsity girls’ tennis, A&M Crew, freshmen mentoring and is enrolled in multiple AP classes.  

After high school, Ramsdell plans to attend the University of Kansas to study business administration while taking pre-veterinary courses. She also plans to continue her career in the modeling industry and is hoping to receive scholarships from her work.
