Seniors this year are faced with a situation unique to their grade. A polarizing issue that causes extreme consternation amongst peers. Yes, I am talking about that most sacred of senior powers: senior parking.
Seniors can receive a parking spot, with location based on class rank, with higher ranked students receiving more valuable spots. The spots are numbered, and are sometimes painted on to further personalize the spot.
While some seniors seem to be relaxed about their spots, the majority of seniors treat their spot like their personal territory, and will lash out viciously at anyone who parks in their spot. This can involve reporting it to the office, but more often involves confronting the offending student in the hallway for a stern talking to. It sometimes involves covering the offending car’s windows with window paint, which is illegal. This doesn’t happen to everyone who parks in the wrong spot, but it happens enough to be an issue.
Seniors just need to chill out about their parking spots. It really isn’t a very big deal. So what if you have to walk an extra 20 or so feet in the morning? Especially when there is snow on the ground, picking out the spot number can be hard, and there is no reason to risk a vandalism charge by keying a car or painting some windows.
