March 4 was national Pancake Day and to celebrate this event IHOP continued their tradition of giving out free pancakes on this day. This was an event that I was not going to miss and so last Tuesday I woke up at the nice, ripe time of 5 o’ clock in the morning so I could get some delicious breakfast with my friends before school started. Even though it was early, this was probably one of the best decisions that I have made all year long.
IHOP has always been known for having great food at cheap prices and National Pancake Day was only different because the pancakes were free. When we first got to the restaurant the place was completely empty which was perfectly fine for us and probably extremely nice for the one waitress that was working. Technically the free pancakes were not supposed to begin until 7 a.m. but because we were such dedicated pancake lovers we were able to get them before then.
Overall the food was delicious. The pancakes were fresh and warm and our waitress even gave up chocolate chips to sprinkle over the top, which made everything a billion times better. We ordered bacon and hash browns and I had a cinnamon hot chocolate and it all made up one of the best breakfasts I have had in a really long time. The service was alright, but in all honesty I couldn’t blame our waitress for being a little absent minded because she was probably there all night long.
Free pancakes were delicious but what made it worth it was that IHOP was promoting donations to charity through their special deal. It was highly encouraged that if you got free pancakes that you would donate any amount of money to St. Judes for children’s care. If you donated five dollars or more IHOP gave you $5 off your next meal there which, in my opinion, is pretty awesome.
IHOP is an awesome place to go and eat. They have delicious foods and are very good at putting up with hungry teenagers. If anyone is considering attending their National Pancake Day event it is totally worth it because who doesn’t love donating money to charity and getting free pancakes?
