What is the first thing you think about when you walk into a new school for the first time? Now, picture that brand new school as a high school. Freshmen are the youngest and smallest in the school.

The first day of school with the upperclassmen might seem intimidating, but once you get over the fact that they are the “big and scary” seniors, you calm down a little bit and get used to the fact that they are there for the same reasons.

Also, just because they are older than you, doesn’t mean you can’t communicate with them, especially if you are involved in the same things as them. I am in cheer, and on newspaper, and there are older kids, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t talk to them. I look up to them to see what the right and wrong things are.

Getting used to a bigger school always take time, but soon you realize that the school seems super small once everyone is in class.

I have learned that if you don’t get involved, high school will be a drag. Even as a freshman, I can see the people that do and don’t get involved.

Whether it’s a sport or a club, getting involved will help you make new friends, and will give you a reason to keep your grades up.

As a freshman, I am really happy that I did get involved with the school. If I wasn’t, I probably wouldn’t have the nerve to do anything that I have done this year. It also helped me get used to the school in a different perspective than what some students see school as. Just because you don’t like your classes, doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun with what you are doing outside of school hours.
