Much to the delight of fashionistas everywhere, two new stores have recently opened up in the Kansas City area: Charming Charlie and H&M.
First of all, for those of you who are unfamiliar with Charming Charlie, it is a store completely devoted to jewelry and accessories. I had been to the one at Town Center, and while that particular store is amazing, it doesn’t even begin to compare with the store at Legends.
Opened in November, the Charming Charlie at Legends is the equivalent of a fashion warehouse. It is easily three times the size of the store at Town Center. When I went with friends, it took us over an hour just to walk through and see everything. One major difference between the two stores is that at Legends, there is a clearance section. While the prices are already reasonable, the clearance section marks these down even more so you can buy even more cute things!
Finally, one of my favorite things about this store is that everything is organized by color. I have found that it makes shopping for jewelry for school dances much easier. If you have for example, a purple dress, you can head straight to the purple, silver or black sections of the store and pick out matching jewelry, a clutch, hair accessories and even shoes. Mission accomplished!
Also new to the Kansas City area is the Swedish clothing store H&M that opened in December on the Plaza. After visiting the store, the only thing that I can think to compare it to is Forever 21. Some of the clothes are really cute, while others are a little out there and the prices are reasonable. One major difference (for me anyway) is that H&M is organized. If you find a shirt that is really cute but doesn’t fit, you can go back to exactly were you found it and get your size.
I also think that the clothes are higher quality to begin with which is a plus. Even if you aren’t going to pay J.Crew prices for cute clothes, they should still be able to last more than a few washes without fading or getting a hole.
H&M also has clothes for men and children, but men be warned. As it is a European clothing chain, the styles tend to be more European. Also, throughout the store, the sizes are listed in the size equivalents in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, so make sure you’re looking at the right one!
Charming Charlie is located at Legends by the T-Rex Cafe and Coldstone Creamery and H&M is located at the Country Club Plaza near Barnes and Noble and next to McCormick & Schmick’s.
