As the candy filled, fall holiday comes up, The Green Pride staff shares their all-time favorite Halloween movies.

With many different personalities, some staff members prefer the traditional family movies while others lean towards the horror films. Sophomore staff reporter Ella Fixsen’s seasonal go-to is Coraline.

“I used to watch it [Coraline] all the time when I was younger. My brother would always throw a fit whenever I watched it because he was scared,” Fixsen said, “That made me like it so much more.”

Leading in staff votes, The Nightmare Before Christmas, a classic, is a must see.

“I like the animation style of Tim Burton, it’s creepy and has very catchy songs,” said editor-in-chief Lizzy Arnold.

Although Halloween is full of excitement, it’s also known for its terrifying haunted houses and costumes. The new 2017 film It, based off the book written by Stephen King, is another fan favorite.

“It has a great storyline. I typically don’t watch scary movies but this one really pulled me in,” said junior staff reporter Erica Hoelting.

Around this time, scary movies in general are popular, even ones that aren’t related to the October holiday.

“I love The Ring because it has a combination of horror and mystery,” said editor-in-chief Ellie Fowks.

A traditional movie, It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, makes sophomore staff reporter Hunter Finerty reminiscent of her childhood.

“It reminds me of trick-or-treating with my cousins when we were younger,” said Finerty.

Other staff members have similar feelings about the film.

“I grew up watching Charlie Brown, so I have a emotional connection to the movie,” said junior staff reporter Erin Pickert.

With many more exceptional films out there, The Green Pride staff shares and encourages others to enjoy them this season.
