Over spring break, I ventured several hours to Branson, Mo, with my mother and brother. I’ve been here numerous times with my family for the shopping, dining and the shows. In the past, I’ve witnessed some terrible shows with poor vocals and an unimpressive performance. It is often hard to guess what shows are actually worth watching as every venue and show claims to be “the best”. However, the show Six did not disappoint.
The show consists of six brothers singing acapella with stellar harmonies and familiar tunes. They went through nearly every decade with iconic music that the audience frequently sang along with. At one point, the beat boxing member of the group performed the fast paced drum solo portion of the song Wipe Out by The Surfaris.
My personal favorite was a tribute to “the worlds greatest pop star,” Justin Bieber. One member performed the popular song Boyfriend and engaged the audience by singling out people in the audience and singing directly to them. He often sat on their laps or danced near them. This had the entire audience in a roar of laughter.
After a brief intermission, the group returned by playing a stream of well-known movies without sound and producing the sound effects themselves. This was incredible as the sounds almost directly mimicked what is in the movies. Once this fun and entertaining potion of the show was completed, Six entered the sentimental portion of their show featuring a heart-wrenching song dedicated to their deceased mother and songs dedicated to all of the veterans in the audience.
I would highly recommend this show to any avid music fan. The group covers nearly every genre of music while also engaging and entertaining the audience with bits of comedy. It had me singing along and laughing at nearly every moment of the show. The tender moments at the end of the show really made for a well-rounded, pleasurable experience. I definitely plan to see the show again in the future.
