Tim Mispagel’s Digital Photography and Advanced Placement Studio Art classes, have the chance to partake in a photography commission to raise awareness about cancer.
Students that participate will receive community service time and will have the opportunity to attend a gala.
The photographs will honor children that have died, survived or even battling cancer at the moment.
Vice President of DeCloud Studios in Overland Park, Dave Strickland, approached Mispagel back in September about this commission, and Mispagel accepted the offer.
“We contacted him because DHS has what we would consider one of the strongest art departments in the state. With the direction of Mr. Mispagel and the talented students at DHS we know that the project will be a success,” Strickland said.
The HOPE collage is going to be a large part of creating awareness of child cancer research by Braden’s Hope Foundation. Together, We Raise Awareness and Bring HOPE to Children With Cancer is Braden’s mission statement and many children are benefiting for their research.
DHS students will be making a calendar that will feature Braden’s Heros and Angles, children with cancer, and Hall of Fame or current Cheifs players such as, Matt Cassel, Jamaal Charles and Trent Green.
Pictures will start to be received the week of Oct. 31, 2011, and the Hope Foundation plans to start selling calendars in November. To raise money for their research.
The collage will inspire the Heros and Angles and their families battling cancer to never give up. The collage will be unveiled at the gala next year, and will be placed for the attendees and families of the represented children in the collage to be viewed.
This cause will help the research to find a cure for children’s cancer. With the Cheifs the cause will be more widely known, and it will benefit children all over the world.
